Who are we?

The Alliance is an organization of physicians’ spouses, physicians, and others within the medical family. The group works to promote healthy communities and support medical families.

Scholarships

Perhaps the most tangible benefit the LCMA provides are a number of annual scholarships to students entering allied health fields of study. In 2010 the Alliance awarded eight $1000 scholarships for the 2010–11 year to students in the fields of nursing, pharmacy, and occupational therapy. In addition, the group administers a scholarship for Lake Health employees seeking further education in the allied health sciences. Three Carla M. Stallworth, MD, scholarships were awarded in 2010.

Legislation

The LCMA works tirelessly to find out about and actively pursue legislation and political issues affecting the medical community. Affiliated with the county and state medical societies and the state medical alliance, the group utilizes these connections to stay informed about relevant issues and makes ample use of its “blast” e-mail system to keep members and physicians informed.
